First International Workshop on Neural Information Processing for Big Data and IoT in Smart Cities
Collocated with: The 27th International Conference on Neural Information Processing (ICONIP2020)
Smart cities are urban area that uses different types of electronic Internet of Things (IoT) sensors to collect data and then use insights gained from that data to manage assets, resources and services efficiently. Smart cities can enhance quality of life and knowledge in contemporary society stands for the next wave of Civilization. The main techniques promoting to the accomplishment of smart connected cities contain big data, IoT, mobility, smart computing, cyber physical social system, artificial intelligence, data science, machine learning, and cognitive computing. Neural information processing such as artificial intelligence and machine learning integrated with IoT has the ability to answer key challenges presented by an excessive urban population which contains renewable energy, energy crises, transportation, healthcare and finance issues, and disaster management. It can improve the lives of the citizens and businesses that inhabit a smart city.
This workshop aims to investigate the impact of the adoption of advanced and innovative big data and IoT techniques in smart cities applications. The workshop will bring together researchers on different disciplines from academia and industry with a common objective: go beyond the frontiers of today applications of smart cities. Topics for the workshop include, but are not limited to:
- Distributed Intelligence for IoT big data analytics
- Heterogeneous IoT big data analytics for smart cities
- Data quality metrics for IoT applications
- Big data IoT applications in smart city, manufacturing, e-health
- Visual analytics algorithms for IoT applications
- Mobility and context-awareness for IoT applications
- Process modelling for IoT applications
- Data compression for constrained IoT devices
- Signal processing for smart cities
- Privacy, security and trust issues in IoT applications
- IoT as a service
- IoT management capabilities for data centers
Submission
Papers should be written in English and follow the Springer LNCS format. Paper submissions is single-blind review, so author names can be shown in the submission. The submission of a paper implies that the paper is original and has not been submitted under review or is not copyright-protected elsewhere and will be presented by an author if accepted. All submitted papers will be refereed by experts in the field based on the criteria of originality, significance, quality, and clarity.
The Proceedings will be published in the Springer’s series of Lecture Notes in Computer Science. Selected papers will be published in a special issue of an SCI journal.
Final papers after acceptance will normally be 10 pages with a maximum of 12 pages in length. The page count includes everything, including references and appendices. Please follow Springer’s proceedings LaTeX templates provided in Overleaf (https://www.overleaf.com/latex/templates/springer-lecture-notes-in-computer-science/kzwwpvhwnvfj#.WuA4JS5uZpi).
